Renishaw offers a full range of repair and recalibration options to ensure ongoing performance and allowing you to comply with quality assurance and business requirements.
Other alternatives to repair include factory refurbished ML10 lasers and EC10 compensators (subject to availability) and, of course, you can take advantage of our special upgrade offers. Before returning any units for repair or replacement please contact the calibration product support team lcpdproduct.support@renishaw.com. To minimise disruption to your operations we will always try where possible to resolve any issues by phone or email first, before deciding that the unit needs returning to Renishaw. Service and repairsAccidents happen and systems do wear in use. Whatever the reason you will want to know that Renishaw offers a full range of service and repair options. And don't forget that for older ML10, EC10 and QC10 units upgrade options are available against a brand new Renishaw system. For full details of the scope and price of these services please contact your local Renishaw office. Why recalibrate?Your Renishaw measurement system is a precision instrument. Even with perfect care of the system, wear of mechanical components and drift in electrical components can effect the accuracy of measurement and potentially result in values outside of required accuracy. Renishaw recommends, in line with most quality assurance system requirements, that the Renishaw system components are periodically recalibrated, to give confidence that the system is capable of delivering a specified accuracy of measurement. All Renishaw calibrations also ensure traceability of results back to national or international standards. This is a requirement for many customers' quality assurance systems. Compared to the investment in the measurement system, the staff and the procedures that it is operated with, recalibration is a modest additional cost and could prevent far more expensive and more serious problems arising later. Recalibration periodsRenishaw's recommended recalibration periods are based on "typical" use of the system under normal service conditions. Renishaw recommends 12 months for laser system compensators (XC-80 and EC10) and 2 - 3 years for laser units (XL-80 and ML10). QC10 and QC20-W ballbars also have a recommended 12 month interval due to the machine shop conditions they are used under. Recalibration facilitiesLaser and ballbar recalibration is available through your local Renishaw contact at facilities in the UK, USA and Germany (with NPL traceability), and from mid 2011, Shanghai, PRC (with NIM traceability). Laser calibrations only are available in Japan in association with a third party Japanese accredited laboratory. ![]() The USA facility is A2LA accredited to ISO17025. All lasers and ballbars returned to Renishaw for recalibration or repair (where recalibration is carried out after the repair), are recalibrated using the same equipment and procedures as used for the original factory calibrations. Environmental compensators and sensors are calibrated via a direct measurement comparison to a reference system at a single ambient temperature and pressure.
